Reference Librarian (Part Time)

 

The Lupton Library seeks applicants for a part time reference librarian at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Primary responsibility of the position is to provide reference service to the UTC community through in-person and virtual means. Other reference department duties may be assigned. Schedule includes Sundays 2-10 pm, plus 6 additional hours to be worked during the week and/or in the evening.

The Lupton Library employs 16 librarians and 15 staff members, has an annual budget of over 2 million dollars, and collection holdings of more than 500,000 volumes, 1,000 print/microfilm journal subscriptions, 90 databases, and over 20,000 online journals.  The Lupton Library is equipped with 70 public computers, 10 group study rooms, and two fully equipped library instruction classrooms.  The Library offers a comprehensive range of public services, including proactive outreach, instruction, and reference.  Recent projects at the Library include a podcasting grant, a Learning 2.0 staff development program and migration to a new open url link resolver.

Required qualifications:

  • ALA-accredited MLS
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current online information resources and services
  • Competency with virtual reference services such as instant messaging
  • Pro-active customer service orientation
  • Collaborative approach to working in a team environment
